Our Experience | Professional vs. Consumer Cameras | Deposits | Multiple Cameras | Microphones + Audio
Program Duration | Completion Times | Lighting | Original Tapes | Digital vs. Film

Q: What kind of experience do you have?
Our team is comprised of talented artists and visual production professionals with backgrounds in film, tv, news and music video production.

We have filmed and edited more than 200 individual wedding videos since 2005. Our primary goal is to go above and beyond the standards of quality and style of other companies while creating a true work of art from the footage of your wedding day.

Q: What's the difference between your cameras and the small HD cameras at Circuit City?
Although the quality of consumer grade cameras has greatly improved over the years - even to the point of shooting HD footage, professional grade cameras will always yield better results with better image sensors to reproduce a higher quality image; better color reproduction; better audio; proper focus control instead of autofocus; and proper image exposure control. Of course, our cameras always come with professional videographers, as well. Remember; no matter how good the camera is, the quality will always directly correspond to the skills of the videographer.

Here are two images from the same wedding:

Both images are unaltered and are shown exactly as the cameras captured them.

Q: Is a deposit required? How can I make payment?
A $500 deposit is required to schedule the date. In the event of a drastic change of plans, the deposit is transferable to a new wedding date. If there is the need for a cancellation, $300 of the deposit is refundable up to four weeks prior to the wedding date.

We accept checks, money orders and all major credit cards via Paypal. You can also make a direct funds transfer via Paypal.

Q: How many cameras will be used?
We always use a minimum of two cameras. Our most basic package includes one videographer and a stationary camera. A lot of video companies basic packages will only include one camera. If anything happens where the camera is moved, bumped, or obscured during an important moment, there's nothing that can be done in that situation. This is why we will always have a second camera rolling to help capture the moments.

Having two videographers will always yield better results than an unmanned, stationary camera but that's not always in everyone's budget.
Q: Will we be wearing microphones? Will the sound of the ceremony and reception be clear?
Ceremonies are recorded with two wireless lavalier microphones (lapel clipped microphones like news anchors use). One microphone for the groom and one for the ceremony's officiant. Ambient room audio is also captured with an on-camera microphone.

Receptions are recorded with a wireless output from the DJ's soundboard and an on-camera microphone. If the DJ doesn't have a proper output for a wireless signal, a wireless microphone will be carefully placed near the DJ's speaker to record audio as best as possible.
Q: How long will the final video run?
This greatly depends on how long your ceremony is. Another set of factors is the quantity and duration of formal events in your reception.

We have seen ceremonies as short as 15 minutes long and as long as 80 minutes.
For receptions, we have seen some with very few formalities yielding a reception video as short as 20 minutes in duration. Conversely, we have seen receptions with a large quantity of toasts in great duration and almost every formality imaginable yielding a long reception video up to 70 minutes long.

With those variables in mind, it's possible to have a final video that runs as short as 40 minutes or as long as 2+ hours.
Q: How long will it take to complete the video after the wedding?
In two weeks from your wedding day, we will have your edited montage video proof posted online for your review and approval. Some specific information and song choices for your wedding montage will need to be received prior to the wedding date to ensure this editing timeline, but we help you every step of the way to make this process a breeze!
Q: I'm concerned about reception lighting. Can you tell me more about how you do it?
First, all of our lighting is dimmable and we set the lighting to your comfort level. Cameras love a to have a lot of light, but what's more important is you being comfortable and happy with how everything looks and feels.

Next, none of our on-camera lights point directly at you. We don't shine lights directly in your face. Having the extra light on you isn't worth the squinting and discomfort it causes anyone.

Last, the stationary lighting provided does not light the room up like a football field. This is always a huge concern. The lighting is done professionaly, is confined to the dance floor where all of the evening's events occur, and becomes a part of the ambience. This yields better results for both photography and video; and since the lights are set to your comfort level - everyone's happy!
Q: Do I get the digital files or first generation tapes that were filmed?
The original tapes that captured your day are shipped with your finished DVDs.

We are also happy to transfer the digital files of the edit and captured footage at no extra charge. If you provide us with an external hard drive, we will transfer all final files upon your video's completion and ship it to you with your finished DVDs.
Q: Why shoot digital instead of film?
The authentic vintage film look is a huge part of our style but we always shoot digital.
Here's why:

Low Cost: We are able to shoot hours and hours of footage yielding great quality for a much lower cost and than it would be to shoot only 30 minutes of film footage. Many companies that shoot actual film footage only allocate about 30 minutes of film footage for an 8 or 10 hour day - That's like hiring a photographer and telling him/her they can only snap a total 30 pictures during the day. By doing that, you greatly lower the odds of capturing the precious moments that we get by rolling the camera as much as possible.

Best of Both Worlds: With digital capture, our in-house editing suite is able to create a reliable vintage film look without any compromise to the original clean footage. We are able to adjust the aspects of the film look (scratches, grain, luminance fluxuations) that all weigh into the overall effect. This means that if you'd like a look different than what would normally be created, we can accomodate your requests. Even if years later, you'd like to see something in maximum digital clarity, the original footage is there for you. With film, you are stuck with what you get.

Image Control: Without getting into too much technical jargon, digital cameras allow a range of image control especially for dealing with low light situations like during a reception. With in-camera digital compensation, we have the ability to immediately monitor how footage is being captured and make adjustments to yield optimal results under low light conditions. We have developed our system of lighting to yield the best possible results for the circumstances while adhering to your comfort level for lighting levels.

No Outsiders: With film, we would have to ship the footage to a processing lab for developing. In this case, we would not be allowed to be on site for the developing process; unable to control any aspects of the results. If the film is not properly developed, your film footage may end up turning out bad despite our good work. By shooting digital, we can bring the footage of your day immediately into our editing suite without any outside variables that might have an impact on the image quality.
